Hear the world-unique Ice Music ice orchestra, watch national-league basketball in one of the country's finest arenas or spend a day at Kulturens hus. Roll out your mat in one of Lulea’s yoga studios, enjoy brunch by the waterside or mingle at the sky bar overlooking Lulea’s beautiful skyline. Luleå offers much to discover.
LTU's Porsön campus has everything you could want in a university campus and it is easy to get comfortably stuck in the familiar, often insular, student life. But Luleå offers so much more to see and experience. One of the city's best features is that you can walk, cycle or take the bus just about everywhere. Downtown, you'll find plenty of great restaurants, cafés, shops and nightclubs. There is also a rich culture scene, with Kulturens hus, Norrbottensteatern, the public library, art galleries and a museum. Luleå’s fabulous archipelago, outdoor recreation area Ormberget and Gültzauudden are also well worth a visit.
Ice Music and Sweden's best basketball team
There are a few things that you can only experience in Luleå– Ice Music is one of them.
This is the world's first concert hall where the music is played on instruments made of ice. Sweden's largest year-round archipelago is another. In winter you can walk, skate, ski or kick-sled on ice roads and skating trails. We recommend a winter trip to Gråsjälören, where waffles are served at the café when the flag is flying. Don't miss an SHL game with Luleå Hockey or a home game with Sweden's best basketball team, Northland Basket. Why not join the cheerleading squad?
